Tn to-night's issue (the 2nd in*t.) in the "Xows of the Day" column there is in * paragraph "Where There 1- Xo Doctor" a statement attributed to a Methodist missionary to tlio Solomon Islands. M»37. is an article by <ui accredited native nicdi-al practitioner, a graduate of the school. entitled "A Sharp Note from the British Solomon Islands." In it he refers to the port health ollicer at Tulagi. the senior medical oili.er of the out-patients department, the sanitary inspector, the dressers (who write their reports in good English). The islands are under the medical care of the Colonial Medical Service, and one of their officers now in con-ultinj: practice in Xew Zealand wrote an authoritative article on tropical ulcers in the Solomons. Moreover, there is in the «ame journal an article by the well-known official of the Rockefeller Foundation, Dr. S. M. Lam hen. on "Infantile Paralysis in the South Seas."' lie states that the disease was lirst reported in the Solomons in l'.V2.">. The foundation w.-rki in co-operation with the Colonial Medical Service, and its beneficence to the medical school, ■enabling it to provide trained practitioners to all areas in need in the South Seas, will be a monument to the man whom you, in an editorial, termed "a benefactor to* humanitv."
