ALLEGRETTO'S PROGRESS

HAS SCHOOLED WELL. (By Telegraph—Special to " Star.") HAMILTON, this day. The tracks at Te Kapa presented a deserted appearance this morning, all the horses claiming engagements on the first day of the Auckland winter meeting having left for Ellerslie. Allegretto, the local hope for the Great Northern Steeplechase, was worked steadily over a couple of rounds of the course proper. He is bearing a healthy appearance, and has apparently benefited by his race on the second day of the Waikato meeting. Since the meeting lie has been twice schooled over the steeplechase course at headquarters, and has executed his work in good style.
