PLACED ON PROBATION.

"Now you go and prove you are made of better stuff than thieves are made of,"' said Mr. F. H. Levien. S.M.. at the Papakura Police Court yesterday to a Maori named William Cooper, who was charged with theft. The Maori was alleged to have stolen 10/ worth of dates and raisins at Clevedon on May 11.

Mr. Levien put Cooper on eighteen months' probation, and urged liim to live a better lifa.
