TO-DAY IN CHRISTCHURCH. FLUTTER IN BREWERIES. MIXING SHARES LOWER. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. A flutter in brewery shares and activity in Electrolytic Zincs brought keenness into the markets on the Christchurch Stock Exchange this morning. Xew ZeaUmd Breweries started with a rush at £3 8/, but relapsed immediately to £3 7/ and £3 6/, compared with £3 5,6 yesterday. Final quotations lay from £3 <3/6 to £3 6 . Staples moved up I/O, to business and further buyers at £2 15/6. Rights to the new issue of Xe-.v Zealands had buyers at £1 10/ and no sellers. Electrolytic Zincs, after a long time of relative slackness, enjoyed renewed popularity at steady rates, the ordinaries finishing between £2 16/ J . and £2 16/6, and preferences between £2 17/ and £2 17 3. Few r sales between the banking and brewery sections were made close to recent values, though Christchurch Gas dropped again, selling 3d lower, at £1 6/1). Among miscellaneous shares Broken Hill Proprietary sold 6d lower, and G. J. Coles, after a sale at £5 10/, finished 3d lower, with sellers later offering at £o 9/0. Dunlop. Perdriau had an inquiry at £1 2/2, while Wilsons Cements seemed stronger between £1 12/6 and £1 18/.
