READY IN FEW DAYS.
UNION AIRWAYS' 'PLANES. PROGRESS IN ASSEMBLING. It is expected that the first of the two Lockheed Electra monoplanes, imported from the United States for use by Union Airways on the Auckland-Wel-lington air service, will be assembled ond ready for testing within the next few days. Rapid progress has already been made on this 'plane, the Kuaka, though the parts were not landed at the Hobsonville Air Base until Saturday evening. The work of assembling is being carried out under the supervision of Mr. D. E. Hixon, a Lockheed engineer who accompanied the machines from the factory, Mr. L. Mangham, chief ground ■engineer to Union Airways, and two of his assistants. When the Kuaka is ready for the air, work will be begun on the second 'plane, the Kotare. Test flights ill be made by the Lockheed pilot, Mr. Move W. Stephens, jun., who will later fly them to Palmerston North, where the Union Airways pilots will be instructed in their use."
