A SMART FOUR. PALUSTRES GOOD SIX. The best sprint at Takanini this morning was registered by Survoy. The outside grass, on which the poles were 10ft out, j was in use. and the going was fairly good, even though it was inclined to cut out « little. Grateful (O'Brien) jumped away at the seven furlong post, and after running his first three in 41s, and six in 1.22, completed the distance in 1.3b. working well within himself. Silver Glow (Stratton) and Miss Lovelock (Bartle) went away from the five furlong peg, the latter dropping out after the first half-mile, which was "run in 53 3-ss. Silver Glow continued on to complete the full distance in 1.9 3-5. Axvakur, .Hot Box. and the Iliad colt ' worked over two furlongs along the back twice, the second time hitting out very freely, while covering the distance in 295. -Speairourt (Tinker) and Lap Up (O'Brien) put in two Founds of solid work, averaging about 15s to the furlong. Highborn was not unduly bustled t-o run seven furlongs in 1.36 3-5. after taking 42s for the initial three. Mia Acrea completed bis work by running the last two furlongs in 28s. Professional (Green) and Royal Passage (Mudford) were together throughout seven furlongs, traversed in 1.33 3-5, the first three taking 37 3-ss. Survoy (Hatwell) showed plenty of speed while dashing over half a mile in 40 l-ss. He relished the conditions. Lady Ruler (Curwen) and High Quality (Walters) went a mile and threequarters. the last mile taking 1.51 3-5. and the final half 555. Palustre strode over six furlongs in 1.18 3-5. after taking 1.4 for the first five. She was on the bit throughout.
