DUKE'S WEDDING.
AWKWARD QUESTIONS.
Did Anglican Clergy Refuse
To Officiate?
MR. ROGERS INTERROGATED. United Press Association.—Copyright. (Received 12.30 p.m.) TOURS, May 21. Mr. Herman Rogers has revealed that there will be no religious ceremony 'at the Duke of Windsor's marriage. He added that he was unable to give any reason. Asked if an Anglican clergyman had refused to officiate, Mr. Rogers replied: "I think that is very unlikely." Pressed to say if anyone had refused to conduct the ceremony, he said: "Not that I know of," and added, "I could not say whether there would be a religious ceremony later."
Asked whether the issue of invitations had caused friction between the Duke of Windsor and the Royal Family, Mr. Rogers replied. "I don't think there is anv friction whatever."
When asked: "Does that mean there is no friction with the Government?" he replied, "I prefer not to continue this subject."
The Duke of Windsor and his bride will spend their honeymoon on the Mediterranean in the Duke of Westminster's yacht Cutty Sark which he has lent to them for the month of June, states the Tours correspondent of the "Daily Mail."
