PROGRESS OF SIX-DAY RACE. LONDON, May 21. In the eix-day cycle race the French and American ridere to-day are a lap ahead of the Canadians. Rogere (Australia) injured his knee and retired, and Opperman is carrying on in the hope of finding a new partner.
About 160 square miles of excellent corn-growing land in Yorkshire have been washed into the sea since the days of William the Conqueror. At Seathwaite. a little place in Cumberland, eight miles from Keswick, there is an annual rainfall of 173 in—it was 224 in in 1806—the highest in Great Britain.
