ARE NOT SATISFIED.

CHEESE MANUFACTURERS.

QUESTION OF PREMIUM. (Br Telegraph-—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., Friday. Dissatisfaction with the treatment of cheese factories in comparison with butter factories in the matter of the guaranteed price was expressed at a meeting of the Manawatu and West Coast Dairy Companies' Association. One delegate said that, although promised a premium of lid a pound, it was obvious that cheese producers would get only about id for the season now ending. If they went on the open market .to-day; without the guaranteed price they would get 3d or 4d premium over butter. A' big surplus was being built up in the cheese account, but cheese producers would not get the benefit of it unless they fought for it. The following resolution was carried: 1 "In view of the fact that cheese factories will not pay the lid a pound butterfat premium promised over butter factories for the present season, the Marketing Board be asked to make up this premium, and, in the event of there: being a surplus in the cheese account, the board be asked if that surplus will be credited to the cheese supplier or dairy interests as a whole." It was also decided that a conference of cheese interests in the Taranaki, Wairarapa and Manawatu districts be called to go into- vital questions affecting the industry.
