£800 DAMAGES AWARDED.

CAR COIXISION SEQUEL.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

INVERCARGILL, Friday.

Damages totalling £800 were awarded by a jury to Henry Maunder against James Coveney, a farmer, for injuries suffered in a motor collision.

In reply to the foreman of the jury Mr. Justice Kennedy said that if the evidence satisfied the jury that the defendant drove negligently, then they would find for plaintiff, and they would do that even if they took the view that the negligence was due to two people, because plaintiff was a passenger, and the negligence of the driver was not to be imputed to a passenger as his own personal negligence.
