MR. DOIDGE'S INTENTIONS.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
ROTORUA, Thursday.
In referring to a recent statement made by Mr. F. W. Doidjre that in due course his name would probably go before the Rotonia electoral committee, tlu> former United Government member, Mr. C H. Clinkard, who was defeated at the last elections by Mr. A. F. Monciir. explains that he had previously advised the leader* of the National, party that, in order to avoid dissension which would spell ultimate defeat, it would be necessary for Mr. Doidjre to Avert hw attention to some constituency other than Kotorua. (liven a continuance of
•rood health and strength, it \rae lis intention to offer his. services as a candidate, but he had decided that the be*t war f>"t was for both Mr. Doidjre and himself to stand aside and a-llow some other person to he nominated. This decision would preclude him from any candidature, as all hi* interests were centred in Rotorua. Mr. Dcwlge would not be called upon to make any suc-h sacrifice, but by *o doinjr he would avoid antajronisinjr any section of the part v throuprh personal motives.
