NURSES' REUNION.

RECEPTION AT HOSPITAL. FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE'S BIRTHDAY. To celebrate their reunion and also to commemorate the anniversary of the birthday of Florence Nightingale, a reception was held to-day by the Auckland Hospital trainees. Miss E. M. Nutsey, lady superintendent of the hospital, received the many guests and she was assisted by Miss V. M. Cussen.

The Mayoress. Mrs. Ernest Davis, attended the gathering and was presented with a bouquet by Nurse Walshe, a daughter of one of the old trainees. A very happy idea was the presentation of a bouquet to the most senior Auckland trainee by Nurse Dufour, the most junior muse in the preliminary school. A most enjoyable programme had been arranged and included a pianoforte solo by Nurse I'. Graham, a song "Bless This House,'' by Mrs. Humphrey Gordon, a recitation by Nurse B. Mulholland and a flute solo by Nurse Seift. Speeches of welcome were made by Miss Nutsey, Dr. Craven and the Rev. W. C. Wood, chairman of the' board. The Rev. Wood also gave an address on the life of Florence Nightingale. The history of nursing throughout the ages was excellently given by members of the nursing staff.

An adjournment was later made to the nurses' dining room, where a delicious tea was served. The room was gaily decorated in a Coronation scheme with red, white and blue flags, while golden marigolds and Iceland poppies added a further touch of brightness to the scene.

Among those present were: Mrs. A. D. Campbell (president of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary), Miss M. Bagley (president of the" Auckland branch of the Registered Nurses' Association), Miss A. Rudd (secretary of the Registered Nurses' Association), Miss Openheim (late of St. Helens Hospital), Mrs. Hardie Neil and Mrs. Tracy Inglis.
