ON 'CHANGE.
BUSINESS IS FAIR. GOVERNMENT STOCKS HIGHER. Though by 110 means brisk, business on tlie Auckliyul Stork Exchange comprised ! a lair number of sales recorded at the tirst rail. There were no special features in the banking section, and insurances were .-toady at yesterday's rates. The chief feature of the morning was continued firmness in Government stocks evidenced by a sale of '4G-'49's at £102 5,', .1 i isc ot 15,. . I.' ollowing a dull spell Goldsbroughs hardened, with buyers at £1 18/3 and sellers 1/ higher. Coal, gas. shipping and timber shares were all dull. Dominion Breweries were steady, but buyers tor .New Zealand* dropped out, leaving unsupported sellers at £3. Buyers came in for Farmers' Trading ordinary shares at £11, and Macky, Logans were closer to business with quotations from £1 3/ to t'l 4 . Woolworths (X.Z.) were again in demand. buyers moving up to £7" 16/ without tempting holders. Mount Lyells were easier, and after sale 9d lower, at £5 5/3, the market lay between £2 4/9 and £2 5,9. South British Improve. . here was a fair number of orders about during the morning, and a good list of! sales was finalised at the noon call. South liritish Insurance improved, with business ex dividend at £4 14 , and Broken Hill Proprietary moved up 9d, with a sale at t'4 1,3, and looked easier afterwards with a market between £4 0 li and £4 1/3. Improvement was also shown by San- 1 fords, a parcel changing hands 4d up, at 5 6, after which buyers dropped back to 5/. with sellers 1/ higher. Farmers' freezing shares were again in demand, and the £5 paid changed hands at £5 11/3, a vise of 5/3 since last April. In the coal section Pukemiros were weaker, and offers to sell at 19 '6 brought no response. G. .T. Coles eased further, with buyers back to £5 4/9. SALES COMPLETED. AT THE 3.1 B P.M.
