NEW FRIENDLY CLUB.

A record attendance was registered at the social hall of the New Friendly Club in Symonds Street this week, when the members entertained various organisations from the city and members of the Cheerio Club. A large variety of games and competitions were arranged by the club hostess, Mrs. Torpy. Winners of the competitions were: Master C. Beaston and Miss D. Oliver, Miss P. Oliver and Mr. McKean, Miss Hooper. Instrumental duos were given by Miss Hooper and Mr. John David and Messrs. McNeal and Steel*. Popular melodies were dispensed by the club orchestra, under the baton of Mr. J. Jacob, club secretary, the duties of master of ceremonies being carried out by Mr. Bennett.
