EXQUISITE FROCKS.
DAZZLING COLOURS.
Even more dazzling tban the two former productions of the Marcus Show is the third and final programme, entitled "Revue Continental," which is featured with a succession of gorgeouslvtoloured dress parades and fantastic episodes. French maids in trim black crepe frocks and royal blue aprons and collars made a demure contrast to their flowing orange-toned chiffon frocks with novel accessories of nut brown.
A touch of Spain was fascinatingly suggested in a typically-coloured scene, when a bevy of lovely girls pirouetted in elaborately appliqued shawls and formed a tableau of alluring effect. The "Slave Market" scene is outstanding in its design and glamour. All the appeal of tlio Orient is manifest in its depiction; gold and silver compose the magnificent costumes, each one more bewilderinglv exquisite than the other, as the Marcus peaches wear them to such striking effect.
The pearl costume is indescribable in its conception and such headdresses have never before been seen on an Auckland stage.
A "Japanese Dream" supplies the motif for another effective scene. Authentic in every detail, it presented a delightful realistic picture of the costumes of that country. A modern touch was given in the gown of two shades of blue chiffon worn in the Juliet balcony scene, and the finale when all the characters dress in their everyday clothes, displaying up-to-date woollen frocks, fur coats and hats, made a striking note of comparison to the former splendour of the colourful stage tableaux.
