CHURCH MEETINGS.
ST. MATTHEW'S PARISH.
The annual meeting of parishioners of St. Matthew's Church was presided over by the vicar, the Rev. N. Gerard. . The balance-sheet showed that the receipts, including a loan of £200, were £1808 16/7, and the expferiditure £1666 13/9. Mr. E. G. Lewis was reappointed vicar's warden and Mr. H. O. Searle re-elected parishioner' 3 warden. The following were elected vestrymen: Messrs. W. Birss, J. S. Dempsey, E. Gerrard, A. Ingham, C. Malloy, C. Ravenhill, S. Spencer, T. Sullivan, J. Wills and G. T. Zohrab; sidesmen, Messrs. H. L. Beaumont, E. H. Conway, A. McCullough, D. A. Power and R. H. Walkley.
Reports were given of the work of the Sunday school and the Dock Street Mifr sion. The vicar stated that the fabric of the church and hall was badly in need of extensive repairs. A committee had drawn up a scheme to renovate the whole of the church property and furniture, which would cost about £5000, and an appeal would shortly be made to raise a fund in order to restore the church in keeping with its important place in the life of the city.
