RESISTED ANAESTHETIC.
LABOURER'S FATAL COLLAPSE (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, this day. A verdict that death was due" to sudden heart failure while being given an anaesthetic was returned at" the inquest yesterday afternoon touching the death in the Thames Hospital on Monday of Dixon Charlton (45), an unmarried labourer. The medical evidence ehowed that Charlton came to Thames suffering from quinsey and was ordered to hos" pital after a doctor had examined hie heart. An attempt was made to administer the anaesthetic, but the patient's struggles were so great that the two doctors, Dr. O. Hetherington and Dr. T. Miller, desisted. A few minutes later another attempt was made, but the patient suddenly expired. Heart manage was tried, but without success.
