RISE IN OATS. SOUTHERN POTATOES FIRMER. Values on the local grain and produce market have remained fairly steady since last week. The market for pollard in Australia remains steady, but even at the Wk prices now ruling merchants have deemed it advisable to secure supplies for at least a couple of months ahead, and substantial orders have been given according]* Current quotations range from £9 5/ %! £9 10/ per ton, and on this basis there is a keen demand. Limited quantities are available from the local mills at lover prices. Cooler temperatures are increasing demand for bran, which sells unchanged at £6 15/ per ton. Firmness in the southern market* hag led to an advance in oats, and B Gartens are now quoted frem 5/ to 5/1 per bushel Chaff is steady at £10 per ton. There has been no change in poultry foods. Practically the whole of fowl wheat now on the market is Australian, selling at 7/3 per bushel, and small quantities of Canterbury command the same price. Maize is selling more freely at 7/2 t» 7/3 per bushel. ' ' *° South Island potatoes are less plentiful as fresh supplies will not be available before the end of the week. The demand is not keen at present, as Pukekohe and other provincial areas are still supplying large quantities, and seem likely to for some weeks ahead.
