DULL TONE PERSISTS. REACTIONS FROM OVERSEAS. 1 AUSTRALIAN SHARES WEAKER. Unsettled conditions on the London markets .seem lespo.ii-ible for the present dullness of the whurcmarket. The fall iu values ami decline in business have spread lo the Australian, and, in turn, to the >ew Zealand Exchanges. On the Auckland Stock Kxchange this morning business was .ilmost at a standstill. Only four sales were recorded, and bidding lacked animation in most sectious. Austrnliaii ni'.'tul shares were weaker. Electrolytic. Ziik.s preferences, losing Od, to sell at £-J 18.15. Mount Lyells were quoted 6d lower nil either side, and Broken Hill Proprietary, which sold late yesterday at. a drop of (ill. were ottered 3d lower, still at £-t 1/tt, with a buyer at £4 ]/. Xew Zealand securities were nirptly quiet and steady. CmiHolidiited Bricks were an exception, ottered at 8 l>. t!ie Jowest ligiirn for m>lllo tune. Farmers' lradinj,' onliniry shares were offered !H1 cheaper, at £1 11. buyers coming up to £1 1/10. 'I he preferences were still iu demand at £ I 3/. Woohvorths (S.Z.) were quoted vide between £7 10/ and £8 5/, and the shares of the parent company were (inner with a market from £7 0/ to C 7 7/6. Silknit shares were ottered 2/0- lower, without attracting a counter from "huycrc. CJorunnieut stocks were in steady dumaiift at aboi.t lute rates. Improvement at Noon. The tone of the market improved at the noon call, and a. fair turnover of shares was recorded, at reduced piiees in most cases. Sales in Broken Hill Proprietary and Electrolytic Zincs, both ordinary and preference share*, showed a drop in each ease. Isation.il Insurances had business at 7/0 a fall of 3d, nfter which the market lay between 17,8 and 17/11. For most of the banks offers were firm, a buyer cominjr in for .Nationals of Near Zealand at £3 2/. Consolidated Bricks lost od. to sell at 8,3. and business in Farmers' Trading showed a fall of 1/ since last sale before tne new share issue.
