NEW RAILWAY TUNNELS.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. The work of duplicating the railway track between Plimmerton and the southern end of a string of tunnels between Pukerua Bay and Paekakariki has been commenced. A gang of men is now engaged on the portion between Pukerua Bay and Plimmerton, the men consisting of those who were working from the soldiers' camp at Parapararnnu on various road works and others whom it was considered advisable to employ on railway earthworks. I At present the work is not one of urgency. It may be some years before duplication of the track is necessary, but it is realised that this must come with the electrification of the line and increased suburban traffic from Wellington. I
