VILLAGE TERRIFIED.
Headless Ghost of Guillotined
French Murderer.
SILENCE FOR THE POLICE.
PARIS, April 9.
The headless ghost of a guillotined murderer, who was executed two months ago, is terrifying the village of St. Auvent, near Linioges. The wife and two children of the murderer reported that eerie noises, including knocks, loud stamping, the rattle of chains and the chink of broken "lass emanated from a garret between 11 o'clock and midnight every night. Armed police kept a vigil in the house and they heard the noises, which caused when the police made an investigation of the garret, but recommenced when the searchers withdrew. It is stated that the noises have been less violent since holy water was sprinkled in the garret.
