ELLERSLIE TRACK.
i THIS MORNING'S WORK. I —— TOOLEY STREET IMPRESSES, i Weather conditions were perfect for training work at Ellerslie this morning, and the going on No. 2 grace track, which was available for fast work, was in firstclass order. ' Several horses with engagements at Whangarei registered good efforts, including Horowhenua, Okawa and Te Hai. Okawa, who was first out, reeled Off half a mile in 50 2-se. She was running on nicely at the end. Horowhenua completed five furlongs in 1.4 3-5. He was assisted over the last three by Overdue, running .the latter distance in 37 4-as. Locknit was going nicely throughout four' furlongs, which occupied 53 l-sa. High Star and Electric Flash covered a round in 1.40 1-5, running the last six furlongs in 1.23 2-6. High Star did his work well. Tooley Street, with the assistance of Miss Appellant, sprinted five furlongs in 1.3 1-5. They began slowly, taking 26 l-5s for the first two furlongs. Tooley Street was going comfortably at the finish, thobgh his companion also impressed. Gay Broney .was allotted a round, which he covered in 1.51 4-5. He went fast over the last four furlongs, which took 51 4-ss. Captain Bruce ran home from the halfmile post in 53 2-5s and Top Star took 56 >l-5s for a similar task. He was not bustled. Kelly traversed a round in 1.51, the last six furlongs taking 1.24 3-5. He is looking exceptionally well after his recent racing. Glen Abb and Rainier finished ahead of Surella over half a mile, which took 51 3-ss. Surella lost ground at the start. Leo Colossus and Tiny Star were timed to complete a round in-1.49 1-5, the last six furlongs taking 1.24 2-5J
Leo Coloesus covered another round at a strong pace before being pulled up. Te •Hai waa given, strong work over a circuit, traversing his last six furlongs j n 1.20 1-5. Vereant worked on the tan track, where he was timed, to run hie last half mile in ®7 l-Qs. A number of other horses did useful work on this track. The Jumpers. WLakarerehau (Coon) and Speedfast .(Jj. Dulieu) were sent over a couple of pony,: hurdles And afterwards two of the big ones. They both jumped well; the former shaping well for a novice. I'Ord kVal (Baker) and Black Marlin (Turvey) gave an excellent display over tour hurdles in the centre. Both horses fenced fast and cleanly. Jolly Broney (Fergus) was sent over the same_ obstacles, making an improved showing. Jalldy Karo (O'Connor) and Erase (vraddock) were allotted a similar task dnd their efforts as beginners were encouraging, particularly that of the former.
