The campaign, an issue between Right wa "ed as though membew of Parhament were being elected. The Radio Liberty League, with Government backing, electioneered late and vigorously to get control of the important media of public information for the Poplar Front < Socialists-Commun-ist-Radical Socialist) coalition. The elections involved only Govern-ment-owned stations whose programmes —mostly news, talks, plays, chamber music and recordings—are supported by the taxes of listeners-in. Privatelyowned stations, which are supported by advertising revenue similar to those in the United States, were not affected. The Government stations carry no advertising.
