NEW AUSTRALIAN PLAY.
The initial New Zealand presentation of a new Australian play will be given by the Auckland Catholic Repertory next Saturday, Monday and Tuesday evenings, in the Town Hall Concert Chamber. This play is "But New Beginning," by George Duke Walton. Localed in one of the great transition periods of English history (1529-36), during which the Reformation Parliament sat, it deals with a problem in which a curious counterpart may be seen to-day—intense nationalism versus internationalism.
The producer for the society is Mr. j Norton Hammond, and included in the I caart are Messrs. P. H. Woods as Sir Thomae More, Will Henry VIII., G. O Sullivan as Will Koper, g r j an Fi ß her-Betts as Harry Patenson, 8..A Harris as Richard Rich, John Thompson as Sir Thomas Audley, Misses : Madge Duncan as Lady Alice More, Esmea. Noble as Margaret Roper and Marie.Drydale as Cecdy Heron. Costumes tsJ&srz & will be under the direction of Miss Nell Ormond.
