HOSPITAL CONTROL.

OPPnsun

<By Telegraph.—-Pms Association.)

INVERCARGILL, Friday. Opposition to the recommendation of the commissioner, Mr. W. H. Freeman, S.M., appointed by the Minister of Health to conduct an inquiry into the question of amalgamation of the Southland and Wallace Hospital distkts, that they be reconstituted to forih one hospital district, was expressed by a public meeting at Riverton.

Thi» Hon. A. Hamilton and other speakers contended that the recommendation was against the weight of evidence, and that such a question should not be dealt with arbitrarily, but should rest on the decision of tho ratepayers and residents of the district. A motion to that effect was declared carried unanimously. It expressed hearty support for a petition being prepared for j submission to Parliament.
