TAKAPUNA'S RACES. AMERICA CUP BOATS. ARGO'S ROUGH PASSAGE. (By SPEEDWELL.) Amongst the proposals submitted to the Auckland City Council by the Acting-Prime Minister, the Hon. Peter Eraser, for the nliservance of Coronation Week was one which at once appealed to his Worship the Major, Mr. Ernest Davis. It was to hold a t ejattat on Saturday, May 8. As the last Anniversary Regatta was "«i f r i r h t l f ß V ery YY et weather Mr. Davis • aid he felt sure the yachtsmen of Auckland would give the proposal their full support and he stated that he would communicate wilh the various clubs asking for their co-operation. " The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron discussed the proposal last evening and decided to assist in races for the A, B and M classes. The New Zealand Power Boat Association wiU handle the power boat section and-the Auckland Yacht and Motor I.oat Association- has convened a special meeting for Tuesday evening fully to consider the arrangements, at which all local Hubs will have been asked to be represented. No <loubt a , flagship could be secured and the function, though late in the season,-would be a worthy part of the celebrations.
