PROGRESSIVE LEAGUE.

NORTHCOTE SESSION

There was a large attendance on the occasion of the Opening of the session of the Northcote' Women's Progressive League in the parish 1 hall yesterday afternoon.

The president, Mrs. Archie Campbell, welcomed.the gathering, which included the ' Mayoress of Northcote, Mrs. R. Martin, the Mayoress -of Birkenhead. Mrs. E. J. Osborne,' representatives of the Welfare 'league. Northa'jtw l )' Birkenheadplunket committees, Birkenhead Women's Association, St. J&ncent ae I*aul/ Society. Catholic Wooien's League, Civic League, National Council of Women. Pe*i women's Club, New Women's Club, Auckland Hospital Auxiliary, Auckland Sewing Circle,' Auckland Mayoress War Memorial Library League, Birkdale, Glenfield and Albany Women's' Institutes. Mesdames Cole (Wellington), Stewart (Hawke's Bay), Trice (Nelson), Miss Trice (Nelson), and four new members, Mesdames Couldrey, E. A. Campbell, Misses Isobel Hunt and Hill. At the request of the Northcotc R.S.A. it was decided to undertake the Poppy Day collection at Northcote on Friday, April 23, and representatives of the league and returned soldiers are to meet on April 20 to' finalise arrangements. Recent representations made to the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Council and the Northcote Borough Council having 1 been fruitless, it was decided to ask Mr. W. J. Lyon, M.P. for Waitemata. to request the Minister of Health to take action regarding the unnecessary zoning of milk rounds at Northcote and the causes of dissatisfaction arising therefrom.

The programme, which was greatly enjoyed, comprised items by Mrs. Reffell. Miss Maisie Carte-Llovd, Mrs. A. E. Tremain and Miss Winifred Johnson, Mrs. T. Joll was the accompanist. A half-hour talk by Mrs. Harold King on Maori legends was also enjoyed.
