USED MOTOR CARS.
IMPORTATION INTO N.Z. MAY BE PROHIBITED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, tlifs day. The acting Minister of Customs, the Hon. Mark Fagan, stated to-day that strong representations had been made to the Government respecting the importation of used motor care. It had been stated that such vehicles were being imported in increasing quantities, disturbing the business of established motor dealers and prejudicing the work of bona-ftde motor car assemblers. Bequests had l>een made that the importation of used or second-hand cars should be prohibited. "The Government is conducting a thorough investigation, and it should be distinctly understood by importers of used vehicles that if it is found necessary in the interests of local manufacturers and traders and the public generally to impose a restriction the Government reserves the right to take such steps as will make any such restriction immediately effective" lie said.
