Dies in Fire.
HOUSE THAT STRADDLED ROAD

COLMA (Cal.), March 26.
Minerva Hartman, aged 104, a Civil War nurse and companion to Florence Nightingale in the Crimea, was burned to death in a house which straddled the road on stilts 42 feet high.
She had reached a compromise with the State Highway Department when it wished to remove the house owing to interference with the roadway.
