FRANKLIN SUB-UNION. ANNUAL MEETING HELD. AMALGAMATION DISFAVOURED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TUAKAU, this day. The decision not to amalgamate with the Pukekohe and Waiuku Sub-unions was reached at the annual meeting of the Franklin Rugby Sub-union. The Tuakau, Te Kohanga and Pukekawa Clubs opposed the amalgamation. Bombay and Onewhero were in favour of it.

The request of the Bombay Club to withdraw from the 6ub-union in order to join in the Pukekohe-Franklin amalgamation was not acceded to. The following officers were elected:— Patron, Mr. J. Fulton; president, Mr. Howe; vice-presidents, Messrs. A. Best, A. J. Harris, R. Crawford, J. Liddle, F. Lawson, H. M. Frost, C. G. Orr, W. D. Corby, W. G. Graham, W. Kewish; secretary, Mr. B. Geraghty; auditor, Mr. R. D. McGahan; selectors, Messrs. Walter Barnaby (senior) and E. Revell (junior); finance committee, Messrs. Geraghty, Howe and F. C. Bagnall; representatives on schools' union, Messrs. H. W. Coles and Walter Barnaby; delegates to South Auckland Union, Messrs. Howe and J. Mill; delegate to Referees' Association, Mr. J. Lawson; emergency committee, Messrs. Howe, Geraghty and Bagnall. It was decided to communicate with the Waikare Sub-union pointing out that players from Opuatia, in Franklin area, were taking part in matches in Waikare. Senior matches were arranged to commence at 2 p.m. Delegates reported that three senior, five junior and two third grade teams would be entered for the competitions. It was decided that no inter-sub-union matches be played until inter-club games were completed. PAEROA UNION MEETING. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) PAEROA, Friday. Mr. E. Edwards presided at the annual meeting of the l'aeroa Rugby Union. There was a good attendance of players and supporters. The annual report and balance-sheet revealed a satisfactory position. Officers for the year were elected as follows:—Patron, Mr. H. Poland; president, Mr. W. Marshall; vice-presidents, Messrs. Lockyer, J. W. Silcock, Edwards, P. E. Brenan, C. H. Potter and E. V. Sly field; management committee, Messrs -McMillan, F McQuillan, H. Wilton! fathers, J. Shanaghan, Shaw and R. S. Nicol; secretary, Mr. S. I. Mclntvre; assistant secretary, Mr. J. W. Silcock jun.; treasurer, Mr. M. I. Scott; auditor, Mr. J. E. Allen.

Complimentary reference was made by the chairman to the services rendered by the retiring chairman, Mr. F. Lockyer, who has been associated with football in the Thames Valley for the past 20 years. The retiring secretary, Mr. W. B. Sutherland, was accorded a vote of thanks for his services.
