TROTTING.
TO BE SPELLED. INDIANAPOLIS DISAPPOINTS. DISTINCT LOSS OF FORM. (By Telegraph— Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Indianapolis will not fulfil his engagements at the Easter meeting at Aldington. About four weeks ago the champion gave evidence of returning to hie best form, but in a trial over two miles last Saturday morning he failed to see out the journey in his customary manner. He covered the first half-mile in 1.10 1-5, mile in 2.17, mile and a half in 3.22, and the full distance in 4.29 He tired badly over the last furlong. Ever since hie gruelling race to win the last New Zealand Trotting Cup, and his attempt to go a mile in two minutes at the same meeting—at which he established a new mile record of 2.0 2-6—lndianapolis lias not been himself. He was taken to Dunedin in January, but after a disappointing effort in the Dunedin Cup was not raced the second day. He was rested with a view to being fit and well to win the Easter Handicap, but hie trainer is so disappointed at his recent showing that he was withdrawn from the race. It ie significant that Indianapolis hae never raced up to his true form in the autumn, and his trainer eays that his condition may be a repetition of similar periods. At any rate, Indianpolie is not likely to be seen in action again until next September or October.
