AUCKLAND CLUB.
THE AUTUMN MEETING OPENS ON MONDAY. SOME LIKELY PROSPECTS. Owing to the continuous rain the committee of the Auckland Racing Club decided this morning to postpone the opening of their autumn meeting, which was to have commenced at Ellerslie this afternoon, till Monday. The second day will be held on Tuesday. The last postponement at Ellerslie was the second day of the spring meeting in October, 1934, when, for a similar reason, the club had to put off the second day« programme from October 15 to October 1(5. The third day of the Great Northern meeting in 1924, which was to have been held on Saturday, June 7. also had to be put off owing to rain till the following Wednesday. Indications now are for a soft track on Monday, and in consequence the chances of some of the candidates will he affected. The following may now be fancied:— "
