j A CAPE OF FUR. As a variation of tlie popular collarlens coat, there will be the "shield coat." The "shield" is an outgrowth of the pockets, and rises toward the shoulder of either side of the neck. Evening frocks which have skirts or floor-length capes composed of yards and yards of knife-pleated chiffon, are returning to the vogue. An unusual colour alliance is snow-white crepe with a high-coloured velvet girdle passing through a slot at the finish of the decolletagp in front, and a pleated cape of chartreuse chiffon in long pleats. Wooden shapes are the latest idea for personal adornment overseas. Clusters of geometric shapes in great variety as to cotour are refreshingly simple in contrast to some of la«t season's synthetic jewellery. About a dozen magnificent Arctic fox skins have been made into one cape for the famous film star, Grace Moore. The skins are attached to a collarless yoke of black velvet, and a. cape is designed to be worn with a black velvet frock. A big belt plaque suggesting a tiny oil painting is a novelty, and belts of corrugated kid sometimes show one end dropping to the hem. Surface decoration will l»e one of the features of the new handbags and will include varieties of embroidery 011 material such as suedes, cottons, silks and linens. Bags of leather or fabric may be corded, gathered, ruffled, or pleated.
