GALLOPS AT ELLERSLIE.

KILONSA'S SMART SEVEN.

SHY AND KING NEPTUNE PLEASE

The weather was fine though muggy for the semi-final gallops for the Auckland Racing Club's autumn meeting at Ellerslie this morning, and sorue good trials were recorded. The course proper, on which the poles were out 40ft, the No. 3 grass, and the tan tracks, were available, the bulk of the work being carried out on the first-named track. The best efforts of the morning were those of Kilonsa, Shy, Crooning, Elanage and King Neptune. The Course Proper. Kilonsa (Wiggins) was eent seven furlongs. She ran the first two in 24 2-ss, four in 49 2-ss, and completed the full distance in 1.28 4-5. It was an excellent workout, and gained her additional friends for the Easter Handicap. Seven Seas (Gilchrist) got to the end of five furlongs in 1.4 1-5. He was runring on solidly at the end. Shy (Wiggins) iad Tybalt (Gilchrist) as a companion over a mile, run in 1.42 4-5. Shy, who finished in front, was doing his work well at the finish, and his effort was impressive. Tybalt also went better than usual. Tooley Street, after taking 38 l-5s for his first three furlongs, traversed seven in 1.30 3-5. This horse is improved. Aero Queen (Clifford) and Speedfast (Moody) went away from a standing start at the six-furlong post, and came home in 1.22 2-5, the former being & i ! ront - Kel] y (Gilchrist), Gay Broney (Cote), Royal Appellant (Cameron) and High Tea (Home) were associated over a mile, which occupied 1.43 3-5. Kelly, who had a light weight, and was on the outside, finished in front, the other three being* bunched less than a length away. Kelly shaped well, though the other three were going well within themselves at the finish.

The two-year-old Elanage (Wiggins) was going better than Sir Abb (Green) while reeling,off half a mile in 49 3-ss. Elanageiß in fiiat-claas order for the Great .Northern Champagne Stakes next Saturday. Prince Colossus (Clifford) was sent a mile alone. He ran the firet half in 51 4-Gs, and. the full distance in 1.46 Surella (Wiggins; ana the Vaals—Ti Tree novice in R. S. Bagby's stable jumped off at the .hajf-njito jjost, and after running firat-furlong in 12 finished up their task in isl l-ss. Both hit out freely. White Foam (Gilchrist) went away slowly from the five-furlong post, and was timed to run her last half-mile in 53 l-ss. She worked comfortably throughout. King Neptune (Green) and Jack Tar (Wiggins) finished several lengths clear of Thangilamba over six furlongs in 1.17. They ran the first three in 37 24mv and King Neptune impressed most, though Jack Tar ako did his work well. Crooning, who was ridden by a light,boy, went away from a standing start at the seven-furlong post, and came home in li3l 4-5. She ran her last six furlongs in <Ll6 4-5, and this ako was a good trial. Hoinoa, who was to pick her up half-way through the gallop, failed to do so; and followed on behind over the last, three furlongs. The latter is bv Tea Tray from Cradle Song. Siega (L. Dulieu) went away steadily from the five-furlong post, and was joined by Land Girl (Murray) at the half-mile; coming home from there in 52 4-ss. Land Girl was clear of her companion at the finish. Digitalis was just in front of Billy Boy, with Erase several lengths back, at the conclusion of a mile in 1.52. Billy Boy worked with plenty, of dash. On the Tan. Knight of Australia (Coon) and Vafepear't(Craddock) were companions over a round run in 1.23 1-5. They covered the last six furlongs in 1.21 2-5, and Knight of Australia was just shading his contpanion at the finish. It was a good effort on the part of both horses. Valmint (Murray) did strong work over a round, taking 1.31 for his last six furlongs. Leo Colossus, was , allotted a similar task, his last six furlongs being covered in 1.27 JWfs Armacourt (Murray) was timed to run the last half-mile of a round in 53 2-ss. ... j No. 3 Grass. Locknit reeled off three furlongs in It was his'first sprint for some time, and he shaped well. The Jumpers. * JaeldyKaro (O'Connor) was sent over a couple of pony hurdles twice. He did not have a great deal of pace on, but his display -was satisfactory". Huntsman's Chorus (O'Connor) was sehfr T over the same fences, giving a pleasing exhibition. H ARRIVALS. The; following horses arrived from the south this morning: Laughing Lass, Smoke Screen, Missal, Mandamus, Francis Drake, Haut Monde, Wildflower, Forest Glow arii; Tail Light. REHANDICAP. Ringehot, who was successful at Tanranga on Saturday, has been rehandicapped 61b, making 7.13, for, the Eden Handicap, to be run at EllersHe next Saturday.
