SPEED ON LAND.

SEVERAL \ OARS PREPARING. (Beceived 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, March 21. Mr. R. A. Railton, designer of Sir Malcolm Campbell's famous Bluebird car, says two or three cars arc being prepared for attempts on the land speed record, now at 300 ni.p.h. It is probable that within three years a motor car will cover the flying mile at a speed of 360 m.p.h. Development of the racing car, he said, was taking place almost entirely in Germany and Italy, where it is considered that success is worth the cost as a matter of national prestige, for which reason these Governments subsidise certain factories.
