SOUTH AFRICAN DAIRIES.
A great improvement is taking place in the general level of quality of both butter ami cheese manufactured in South Africa (according to W. Weddel and Company's annual review). Steps are being taken by the authorities to achieve regularity both in quality and in packing, and South African butter is obtaining for itself a degree of popularity on the London market which enables prices to be realised more in accordance with its intrinsic value than has hitherto been- the_ case. South African cheese was more in evidence in 1936 than it was in the previous year, "and," says the review, "if the recent improvement in quality continues there should be a good demand on this market for as much as the Union can produce.".
