LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

COT ROVERS CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. Presiding at the annual meeting of the City Rovers Club on Friday, Mr. George Hunt expressed pleasure at the large attendance, particularly of junior members. The twenty-seventh report revealed a most satisfactory season and the club did creditably to be runner-up to Richmond for the Davis Points Shield. The seniors, who were runners-up in the Roope Rooster competition, at times showed attractive form. Lou Brown won Mr. Hunt's gold medal for the best back and was congratulated upon his display against the Englishmen. S. Clarke won honours as the best forward and C. Wiberg received Mr. A. A. Smith's cup and medal as the most improved player. I. Thompson and K. Belwood were recognised for practice attendances in the senior reserves. The club was very strong in juniors. The fourth grade not only was undefeated, with j 438 points for and 22 against, bus won the championship and knock-out and the Raynes Cup. The third and sixth grades played a prominent part in the championships and each- won the knock-out- while in the same competition the sevenths were bracketed with Richmond. A successful picnic was held at Motuihi and trophies were presented at a special social evening. The thanks of the club, which is in a sound financial condition, were tendered to various trophy donors and supporters. Officers were elected as follows:—Patron, Mr. C. Raynes; president, Mr. G. Hunt; vice-presidents, same as last year, with several additions; hon. secretary, Mr. E. K. Asher; assistant, Mr. J. Counihan; club captain, Mr. J. Ragg; auditor, Mr. E. J. Phelan. The committee will be composed of junior and senior grade nominated representatives, Messrs. J. L. O'Sullivan, R. Turner, S. Dickey and T. Chermside and the executive officers. It was resolved to hold the annual meeting in the second week in November. Mr. C. Olsen was heartily thanked for the presentation of a framed enlarged photograph of the champion fourth grade team for the club's room at Car law Park. The president said the performance of the team was probably a record and should be an incentive for other teams.
