As the semifinal and final of tlie Christmas tournament, delayed through wet weather on the appointed days, will be played at the Carlton green to-morrnw, it "as decided this morning to play the pairs final at Carlton also, instead of finishing this tournament at Mount Eden as It is known that a number of spectators will like to see both finals. Even though there were only two gaim n in the opening round of the pair* postsection play this morning, more than the usual interest wan shown by an appreciative and critical assembly of visitors encouraged by the fact that one game found the champion of champions, Neil I homson, in action, and lie had won outright a very strong section. This section included Har)>er (Otahuhu), fresh from his great win in the Rotorua pairs last week, and Livingstone (Onehungal, who had been number three in the winRotorua a fortnight earlier The other game included Georgi- D.m-. , now back again in Carlton, after <li^t<■ 1 - guishing himself by winning the Dominion rinks for the Dunedin Cluli, and beiiv runner-up to Maxwell Walker a year later.
