AUCKLAND CLUB. REVIEW OF THE YEAR. , «f d * nn " al rP P° rt of the Auckland Golf Club, to be presented at tlie annual meeting on April 10, states that the membership for the vear was 353, including 10_ playing members, compared with a total memhershi pof 3.17 in 1036. The financial position of the club was satisfactory, and substantial improvements had been' made to the course and clubhouse. Play was maintained over the whole course right through the season and the condition of the course had been good. More summer play had been noticed this season. The committee recorded with regret the deaths of Messrs. H I. Clendon, K. Rutherford and (». A. Williamson. The principal prize winners for the season were : Club championship. H. B. r,nsk : runner-up, \A . N. Abbott ; intermediate championship. G. C. Henderson : runner-up. H. V. Coverdale : junior championship, II S. Lusk: runner-up. K. A. Abbott: J c' Burns Memorial Cup, B. H. Menzies • captain's prize tourney, 11. M. McCoy : runnerup, S. H. Abel : K. R. Blomfield' bowl, W T. Bell ; George Cup bogey, H. S. Bruce • C grade tourney. 4. 1,. Blackmore; fourball match play tourney, 8. G. McCov and J. P. Upton. GLENDOWIE CLUB'S OPENING. The Glendowie Golf Club will open its season with the usual mixed foursomes, in which visitors are cordiallv invited to take part. Several improvements have been effected during the summer months. A putting green has been laid down immediately in front of the clubhouse and should be readv for play early in the season. A lot of work has been put into cleaning up the gullies and. with the fairways in tirst-elass order, members are looking forward to a very successful season. — I AKARANA CLUB. The Akarana Golf Club will open its winter season on Saturday next with a mixed foursomes match.
