The Children's Thought

AJJ this week, while Peter Pan has been arranging one treat after another Eor hia visitors from the Northland, the children themselves have had a little secret of their own up their sleeves. But they didn't breathe a word about it; in fact, so well kept was it that Peter Pan hadn't the slightest idea of this very special secret until all the good-byes had been said on the train on Monday. And then, just before ths train pulled out. Ivy stood up and made a little speech. She told Peter Pan that she and the other Northland children would never forget their wonderful holiday in Auckland, and all their kindly Auckland friends. And that they all wanted Peter Pan to have a little souvenir of the trip, so that he, too, would never forget his little friends in the far Northland. And then Ivy gave Peter Pan the picture. It is a simply lovely picture, of all the Northern boys and girls waving and laughing from their carriage windows on the train's arrival at Auckland. It is mounted on a big white mount, and is signed by Miss Wilkie and all the children. Peter Pan has selected a place of honour for it on his office wall, and I want the Northern boys and girls to know that he is so pleased with it he can scarcely stop looking at it.—W.
