WON AT TE RAPA.

As the result of his success in the Hack Cup at the Waikato meeting on Monday solid support is likely to be accorded Valrent in the Champion Hack Handicap at Te Aroha. The Valkyrian gelding has previously shown his ability on the Te Aroha course, for at the corresponding meeting last year he finished second to Con Fuoco in the latter event. On the second day, in the Piako Handicap, which was also run over a mile and a quarter, Valrent scored from Pukeko by a narrow margin, carrying 8.7. He has 71b more to carry to-morrow, but, despite that fact, he is likely to be one of the hardest to beat.
