SWIMMING.
AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS. NEXT TUESDAY'S CARNIVAL. At the senior swimming championships of Auckland, which will be decided in the Tepid Baths next Tuesday night, all but one of the winners last year will be defending their titles. A thrilling struggle is anticipated between Frankham and llaniin in the 1110 yards event, while there should l>e little difference between the ability of C. K. Buchanan and A. Raper in the 100 yards backstroke, and between that of F. S. Taylor and J. Magee in the I?JU yards breaststroke. The candidates for the ladles l(«l yards championship are well matched, and there will no doubt lie an Interesting contest. In the furlong Mnna Leydon has every prospect of registering a record time. MISS WILSON WINS AGAIN. ] For the second successive year the annual harbour race (2760 yards) of the Wuangarel Swimming Club hag been won by Miss Winnift Wilson. In this years race «he also gained fastest time. Result : Miss Winnie Wilson, 31m. 1: D. Pairley. 3m, 2 • J. Howie, sm. 3 ; H. Fidler, lm, 4. The others to finish in order were : I. Conway om. D. Haigh scr. and R. Webb scr. Fastest time went to Miss Wilson. 441 m, a splendid performance for a girl of 17. last year, swimming off the limit she won the harbour race comfortably. Miss Wilson lias been entered officially by the Whangarei Swimming Club for the Auckland Harbour race t» be held on March <>. under the auspices of the. North Shore Swimming Club. MORRIS FOR AUCKLAND. W. Morris, the best swimmer the North has produce.!, has left Whangarei. where for the past three years he has been a member of the staff of the North Auckland Farmers' Co-op., and has entered the Auckland office of Alfred Buckland and Sons. For some years Morris has held both the North Auckland and Whangarei Club championship titles ,and is a fine free style swimmer.
