TO MAKE CASEIN.

DAIRY FACTORY CHANGES. (By Telegraph.— Own Correspondent.) HAWERA, Tuesday. Two Taranaki dairy companies, Mangatoki and Elthani, liave decided to manufacture casein instead of cheese. A world shortage of casein is anticipated, and based on present values for casein manufacture, butter and cheese, caSein will realise in the return to dairy factories a margin of lid per lb above cheese. Casein actually is worth 3d per lb over and above the guaranteed price for butter. It is anticipated that for the balance of the current year Mangatoki will manufacture-150 tons of casein, and the Elthaih company will make 500 tons of casein curd. The change-over will result in the employment of 30 per cent fewer men than were required for cheese. It is anticipated that other companies may make the ehange-over to casein.
