(Received 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, February 23. The Australian Associated Press political correspondent understands that the Imperial Conference discussions on defence will be dominated by the situation likely to arise in the event of Britain being at war. The Dominions- right to decide regard ing neutrality is fully recognised here. Nevertheless, defence experts hold that if Britain were at war, any declaration of neutrality by any Dominion would not secure that such neutrality would be respected. On the contrary, it is firmly believed that m the event of Britain bein« involved, her enemy would not respect ships bringing essential foodstuffs from the Dominions to Britain anv more than they would respect British ships. Being vitally dependent thereon, Britain would be compelled to protect ships from the Dominions whether or not the Dominions were neutral.
