METAL SHARES EASIER. (By Telecraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Comparative calm ruled 011 the Exchange this morning, following yesterday's storm of hectic dealings. Profit-takers sent the price of metals down several points, but towards the close a steadier tone was noted for .Mount Lyells, with recovery from an initial price of £2 13 3 to final sales at £2 14/. Buyers were still unsatisfied at that tigurc. Electrolytic Zincs failed to come 011 the sales list. The ordinaries were quoted between £3 1/3 and £3 4 . and the preferences between £3 16 and £3 3 . Broken Hills lost 19 for the fully paids and 2. !) for the contributings. Mount Morgans eased by 2Vid. and Rawang Tins sold at 13 0, compared with 14 yesterday. Other sections generally moved downwards, British Tobaccos losing Oil. to £2 12/. (.J. J. Coles dropping to £•> 12 ', and Wilcox, Mofflins easing 2d, to 12 3. Australian Iron and Steel (pref.l, however, were stronger at £1 A reaction in Bank of New Zealands brought sellers down to £2 4 6, with buyers at £2 4 2, no business resulting. Sales of Breweries.
