RETARUKE SHEEP FAIR.

Although stock sales are held at interval* at Kaitieke, about 1.) miles from Kauriniu, lower down the valley towards the Wangauui Kiver. no facilities other than paddock sales have ;>een offering tr> sheep breeders lor the disposal of their stock. With the object of giving farmers an opportunity of offering their surplus stock to outside buyers Messrs. JJalgety and Company held their first sheep fair at Lower lWaruke on Wednesday, but owing to the weather and other circumstances the number of sheep advertised did not come forward. Fanners, however, missed an opportunity as a number of outside buyers present were not able to fill their requirements.
In his introductory remarks Mr. B. Lucy, said that although the yarding had not conie uj> to expectations he felb/Buie the actyaji of his company in organ' Sing the first 7 fair in the district, and making provision in the way of suitable yards for future sales, would be appreciated by those who had stock to sell. Quotations:—Four-year-old ewes. 29'9 to 33/; five-year-old ewes, 25/ to 30'; small ewe lambs, 14/; small wether lambs. 10/; rams, 30/ to 2gs.
