FUR AND DIAMOND SALES. LONDON, February 12. Furs and diamonds are in great demand. Buyers lroiu all over the world bid eagerly at the London fur sales, prices being 10 to lii per cent higher than a year ago, and the best since the depression. Diamonds were in such demand that the Diamond Trading Company, which handles most of the output from South Africa, sells its gems immediately they arrive. Sales in .1937 are expected to rise more than 50 per cent compared with last year, and to exceed the predepreesion average of £12,000,000. The valuation placed on the de Beers properties is £34,000,000, compared with £7.000,000 in the depth of the depression.
