The Prime Minister, defending the Government'* .'tt.ItOO.OOO dollar defence policy against tile Commonwealth Fedelation on a want of confidence motion, declared that Canada wa« not preparing for war in fulfilment of any commitments of Britain.
The Milliliter <>f Defence. Mr. Lan Mackenzie, declined that, the plan was leslglicil solely to make the country'e lefenees efficient.
Government concern regarding the attitude of Quebec wae removed with the declaration i>f Mr. Maxime Raymond that the French Canadian members would unitedly support the defence plan, but would insist on a definite understanding as to European commitments.
