LIBRARY ASSOCIATION.
(By Telegrrph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The conference of the New Zealand Library Association opens to-morrow. One of the interesting features of the conference is expected to be a symposium of library ideals and how they are being realised, those taking part being Mr. T. D. H. Hall, clerk of the House of Representatives, Dr. Guy H. Scholefield, chief librarian of the General Assembly library, Mr. John Barr, chief librarian at Auckland, and Mr. Dunningham, city librarian at Dunedin. A Dunedin remit suggests that in order to develop the book resources of the Dominion for the serious student and technician, libraries he invited to I co-operate in a scheme of inter-library J loans. Canterbury has a remit drawing 1 the attention of the Government to the j unnecessary mutilation of magazines by I the censor, whereby portions of reading ! matter are rendered useless and the I public encouraged to further mutilation. During the conference period Professor James Shelley will deliver a talk on broadcasting, libraries and adult education.
