BAYING TBS MOON.
Kindly allow m,e apace in your columns ■to reply to "Dog/Owner and Lover," , whose letter appears to consist mainly of irrelevancies and inaptitudes. May I say that if her conception of loyalty and devotion consists of yowling , and whelping, rushing out at passers-by and vehicles, and making a general nuisance of themselves, then my locality would inevitably boast a most loyal and devoted canine population. It may interest "Dog Owner ami Ixner' , to learn that I am the owner of a dog, a sagacious and intelligent creature which as a watchdog is unsurpassed, but which is kept under proper control. I would not consider that 1 loved my dog if I permitted him daily to run the risk of being crushed beneath the wheels of motor traffic or if I neglected to keep him clean. It cannot be said that mo*t of those poor street-running ones have ever seen a bath. The object of my first letter was to draw attention to a" state of affairs which in typical of many Auckland streets, and'which should not be allowed to exist. Dog owners need not do away with their pets, but they could eiirtly exercise a little of the intelligence which your most worthy correspondent mentions, but of which she shows no evidence when she introduces racing cars and motor bikes, in neither of which 1 am interested, and which are quite irrelevant to the subject. STUDENT.
